Wildwood Park for the Arts Celebrates Arkansas Heritage Month: Off the Beaten Path
May 4, 2018:
10 AM: Quad-School Poetry Slam featuring poems created by 5th graders during Wildwood’s year-long Arts in Education residencies at Baker, Chenal, Lawson, and Robinson Elementary Schools.
7:30 PM: The Friends & Family Band Presents “Shortie Stories”
May 5, 2018: Park patrons will enjoy a variety of free activities and, as always, have the opportunity to explore paved and woodland trails throughout the Arboretum and surrounding Swan Lake. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Admission and activities are free.
10:30 AM – 3:30 PM Central Arkansas Master Naturalists are onsite with a backyard habitat exhibit and a variety of family activities, including guided hikes and hands-on opportunities to create toad abodes, personalized flowers pots, birdhouses and bird feeders.
11 AM – Noon: Barefoot Yoga provides a free yoga class outdoors in The Pavilion at Wildwood. This open-air spring breeze class is open to all, from first-timers to experienced yogis. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats, towels and water bottles, though some yoga mats will be available to borrow onsite.
2:45 – 3:15 PM: Wildwood staff member David Pickens, whose nature photography is foremost on Wildwood’s website and social media, provides smartphone photography tips in a casual yet active workshop in The Gardens at Wildwood.
Join plein air painters and photographers who aim to capture the natural beauty of native flora and fauna throughout the Park.
May 11, 2018: Celebrate National Public Gardens Day with a stroll in the Park and/or make a donation to support The Gardens and programming at Wildwood.

Stacy Pendergrast, a teacher whose work in haiku is widely published, leads a fun-filled workshop in The Pavilion at Wildwood that bends the rules of haiku poetry. (This workshop is limited to 12 participants. Reserve your spot here.)

Then bring the family to the Park to reveal Mom’s gift. Wildwood Park is open daily free to the public: Sunday Noon – 5 PM / Mon – Fri 9 AM – 5 PM / Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM.
